Happy Ever After

IMG_0430

Someday we’ll stand beside the Crystal Sea,

He and I,

The man I loved for fifteen years,

Married ten.

And we will marvel at all,

That now,

We did not know.

I wonder if our hair will be silver,

Over there?

Or our hands, clasped tight, together

Lined and wrinkled?

A monument chiseled

By the sands of time

And gilded gold

By One who blessed the years

Of laying hard-won treasures

Up above?

Perhaps when we bend down

To find the skipping rock

And gather up fists full

Of stones to throw

We’ll find that they are diamonds…

Heaven’s shores redeeming,

Rippling iridescent,

Letting us experience

Wholeness from the broken of below.

Someday.

And if these earthly waters

Are so sweet and healing

To us now

When they are cursed,

Waiting for their deliverance to come…

Beckoning with wave, and wave

And wave again

From watery hands…

How much grander

Will they ripple, sparkle, saturate

When all is new?

Ah, little prisms…

Here, now there,

We catch a little glimpse

And so believe

In Happy

Ever After

And

The Crystal Sea.

  1. Beautiful words, beautiful pictures, beautiful music…..I worked really hard to keep the tears from spilling out of my big brown eyes (as mom use to say.) Your vintage camper…..you found one?! I see that you had communion and revival also….hope you bottled up that precious time to pull from when life gets tough. I will always have a visual of skipping diamonds on the crystal sea evermore!
