That I May Know Him

That I May Know Him

When one day the unthinkable has to be thought on;

When one day the worst of your fears is born;

When one day a trial of fire begins scorching

Your life beyond recognition and form…

Jesus is there!  Pray, look ‘til you find Him!

With every spear driven His fellowship’s known.

He suffers in blood.  This valley of dying

Is thick with His shadows and full of His groans

That cannot be uttered.  And every deep tear

Is caught in His bottle, is wet on His palm.

Then, ARISING, He lifts them up to His brightness

Where they catch His reflection and glisten for God.

Philipians 3:10

The Father spoke these words to my heart several years ago when a precious friend of mine lost an uncle to suicide.  In the years to come, my dear brother and sister-in-law lost not one, but two children…and I passed the words on again.

This message has comforted my own heart through the various trials that have visited our home, and I still believe them…only now, more so.

In the last couple months, several people very dear to my heart…in different walks of life and in differing circumstances…have found themselves facing the trial of their life.  And  I don’t know what to do or what to say.  The pain of living can be so intense at times, it feels like even breathing will kill us.  Sometimes we wish it would, but it doesn’t…and somehow we go on.  But, though we know not when our anguish will be lifted or how our our troubles will be solved…this we do know.  He is with us in it and He is familiar with suffering.  He loves us too much to send us through needless pain.  There is something to be gained.  The trial, not matter how excruciating, is not pointless or void…and we can carry out treasures and plunder when we finally crawl out of the trenches.   When, at last, we stand again, on our wobbling legs and knees, we will find ourselves bearing the resemblance of our Saviour.  For we have been and are being conformed to His image by sharing in His suffering…and I believe that this will be worth every spear wound and fiery dart that left a scar.  I believe.

    It is thru my trials that I am drawn closer to my Father- and tho at the time they seem impossible to bear- He carries me thru. I am thankful for these times- tho they are painful- because it brings me to the cross and Him- it shows me my NEED for His grace. Thank You, Lord, for loving me enough to bring me home when I am wandering- even tho You know it will hurt me in the process. You never give up on me- You never let go. THANK YOU!!! Praise You, Father:)

  6. Oh how true are these words ~ He only has our best in mind when He calls us to walk through the valleys, for He wants to polish us and strengthen us ~ enabling us to better serve and more clearly see Him. Praise His Name for His great faithfulness.

  7. If only we could see the final result while we are in the midst of the pain. The result of us being more in the image of Him I mean. He just wants us to trust. Loving you and what you are being to others with your blessed gift of words.
