For the Love of a Story…

There is no frigate like a book

To take us lands away

Nor any coursers like a page

Of prancing poetry.

This travers may the poorest take

Without oppress of toll;

How frugal is the chariout

That bears the human soul!

~Emily Dickenson

Unto my books so good to turn

Far ends of tired day;

It half endears the abstinence,

and pain is missed in praise.

As flavors cheer retarded guests

With banquetings to be,

So spices stimulate the time

Till my small library

It may be wilderness without,

Far feet of failing men,

But holiday excludes the night,

and it is bells within.

I thank these kinsmen of the shelf;

Their countenances bland

Enamor in prospective,

and satisfy obtained.

~Emily Dickenson

Zeke’s typical way of reading….

Story time from years past…

These pictures are precious to us as they were taken before  my Granddad  Brovont’s  stroke

which left him paralyzed on one side and has impaired his physical and mental health.

    Books…..recieved a Kindle for Christmas and it was nice to take on the plane but there is NOTHING like HOLDING and reading a good book!! Loved the pictures of Dad, Havilah… A reminder to cherish every day!

  2. Love it!
    Especially the photo of Don…so perfectly typical. :-)

    What does “Frigate” mean?

    I was just thinking recently how good it is to
    spend time reading a book.
    This fast-paced, flashing, technological revolution is
    Threatening to rob us of that necessity.

    Good post!
    Great pictures!

  3. How I dearly love me a book.

    The little missy is holding several titles of my own favorites in earlier years. Brings nostalgia.

    This thrills my heart to no end! I was just thinking a couple of days ago that it may be time to revisit Miss Anne with an “e.” There’s no one like her. I’ve often said, I like to have books in the same room as me, because there are so many friends just waiting in the pages :)
