Evening In December

Eden with her ever-present little pile of wrapped packages…

Angle Christmas with Seth’s family ~

Reggie and Zion entertaining the kiddos with stories and picture books while the meal was being prepared…

Christmas message from Dad Angle…

Christmas piano recital; Eden, Blessing, and Zion all playing selected Christmas carols taught to them by their talented piano teacher, Aunt Darlene.

Zion’s duet with his piano teacher…

Zion relieved to have his turn over…

The audience is enraptured…

And finally…Christmas carol sing-along with accompaniment by the gifted Darlene…

Oh, and can’t forget the rousing game of Apples To Apples…and Grandma Honey’s gifts of headlamps given to the littles…

“Evening In December”

~First Call

.

As I wait here
In this evening in December
I remember
How it felt to be a child
My childhood home
Still feels the same
All the family will be here
In just a while

I hope daddy gets here first
To build the fire
He’s the only one who has
That special touch
Then my sisters with their kids
And my grandma who I love
So very much

Chorus:
Oh, I’m glad we’ll be together
On this evening in December
We’ll watch the falling snow
And hold each other close
I’m so glad we’ll be together
For an evening to remember
On this night
On this December night

How the children love
This evening in December
And while the smallest ones
Are playing on the floor
There’s a warmth I can’t explain
And I feel the love of those
Who’ve gone before

Repeat chorus

Keep the fire burning here
Until we all come back next year

My accidental “lowfat” cheesecake…when I forgot my regular cream cheese and had to use the lowfat variety that was on hand. It looked much more beautiful than it tasted. Never skimp on the fat when it comes to cheesecake.

~ Christmas with my side of the family ~

Jerimiah fell asleep in his highchair…his mommy rescued his poor bobbing, dangling little head. Also, note the ransacked bookcase in back. Grandma’s books, standing so nice and upright in their respective places, usually only remain there for somewhere around 20 seconds after the grands arrive.

Story hour in pajamas…

Baby Annie…

Christmas sharing time~

Mother singing a solo…

Daddy and Mother singing a duet…priceless. This was a first, I do believe.

Annie listening rapturously…

And now Daddy with a solo…complete with pot and pan drums and wooden noise maker. You missed it, folks….you really missed it. This was a masterpiece.

Listening….and this was only half the living room. We’ve just about outgrown our childhood home.

Sue and Steven singing hand motion songs with their foster children…

My kiddos sharing their memory verse, Luke 2:1-20. That would be me up front coaxing Zeke through his hard part.

Joni waiting her turn. I somehow missed getting a picture of her with her siblings. They shared all of James chapter 1. It was so inspiring…

Mitchell, Milo, and Connor reciting Eph. 1:1-16. They did a beautiful job.

Sue and her foster daughter…

All worn out…
